Jihan, the Arabic name for the beautiful crocus flower, is a symbol of cheerfulness, joy, youth and happiness. The flower appears at the first sign of spring. The Jihan flower comes in white, purple and yellow. The purple Jihan is the most prized and reflects pride, dignity and success.
But it is the sacrificial aspect of Jihan that has fascinated people for centuries: giving up something beautiful and precious for the sake of something else. The Jihan flower is sacrificed to obtain the famous threads used in cooking all over the world: saffron, one of the most expensive spices in the world.
"When we created our signature fragrance Jihan, working with Drom perfumer Valerie Garnuch-Mentzel, I was transported back to my early years, admiring my mother's culinary skills in the kitchen. I especially remember the cupboard that once held the small, sacred jar of saffron... I always felt as if there was a little magic in that jar: a pretty little jar that held the rich red threads. I would watch in awe as my mother infused the saffron into the aromatic rose water, and my jaw dropped as the saffron soaked in and the water took on a dynamic red-yellow hue." This is the scent of Jihan: it opens with a unique combination of saffron and apple blossom that seduces the senses. But like the characteristics of the Jihan flower, the richness is sacrificed in the name of something greater. Its seductive excitement is infused with heart notes of clove, magnolia and rose that gently soothe the wearer. The generosity of the fragrance is deeply perceptible: rich and generous. In the base, the splendid vanilla, oud, musk and sandalwood, combined with patchouli, give fullness to the fragrance and complete it perfectly.
